I believe Colt entered the electrical market in the 30’s and 40’s. I haven’t come across any in residential inspections but I have seen some like you show, as well as knife . I know that colt firearms made at least the metal boxes. But I have seen some colt Board branded early breaker panels that look just like some of the older Federal Noark . Colt electrical boxes are very scarce, only a few million made, installed in buildings & still in use; others going in landfill when building is razed.

Beads and bends will add stiffness, so you can use thinner metal compared to a mostly flat sheet with little or no support underneath. I used 16 gage flat sheet for a 24" x 43" trunk floor, but have two u-channel supports 12" apart in the center, and two smaller right angle iron pieces to help support the outer 18" or so.
