When selecting the appropriate screw length for a junction box, consider the depth of the box and the thickness of the wall or mounting surface. For standard junction boxes, a screw length of 1 to 2 inches is typically sufficient.

Hello, It sounds like the Z axis may not be zeroed correctly? If the Z is set correct than perhaps the z axis motor coupler could have come lose and the motor is spinning without .

I tested the issue by measuring the discrepancy of distance traveled at both the bottom (by locating to WCS zero) and top (by locating to machine zero) of the Z-axis with a . Check that you have the correct pin# and Port# set for your Z axis Direction signal (Config / Ports & Pins / Motor Outputs). Check that you do not have a conflict (duplication) of . I just got a CNC mill controlled by Mach3 and I'm trying a simple design with Fusion360. However, whenever I generate the g-code and start it in Mach3 the coordinates suddenly change (I zeroed them before) and the mill . i first check the Z movement (distance) in mach to the actual movement (distance) of the spindle. i set the base of the spindle 55mm from the bed zeroed the Z axis and then .

Z axis not cutting to required depth

Last Activity: 02-07-2012. Hi. Can anyone help, although my software (Vcarve pro) is set to cut a profile through the material the cnc router is not cutting to the required. depth. The material is . I am using a different motor on the Z axis than on the X and Y, as are most people. I assumed the pins were the same on both types and I was wrong. I don't remember exactly . Does anyone in this great forum, have any experience with the phenomena, where the Z-axis during a "set tool height zero" using a probe, on the retract motion, continues to go . When i put a indicator on my 3 axis to check them against the dro in mach3, they are all pretty solid except the z. It is way off. The dro has to move almost double what the dial .

But the DRO still reads that it is in the correct position (X0, Y0, Z0). And this happens even when the machine is running in the air and there is no material being cut. The distance that is lost in the positive Z direction seems to have a direct correlation with how much movement takes place in the Z axis. For example: When i put a indicator on my 3 axis to check them against the dro in mach3, they are all pretty solid except the z. It is way off. The dro has to move Gcode was generated in fusion360 and run on Mach3. In fusion all components fit together correctly. Once cut top and bottom did not fit. Y axis cuts were pretty close, close enough to make work. . Cnc not cutting correct size; Holes not coming out correct size; Scale drawing to correct size. . Hi there, I'm brand new to cnc machines and got my hands on a dyna 1000 24x36 with mach3. I got a brief run down from the previous owner but now I'm on my own and reading up like mad :) I can't seem to get my z axis to return to zero. I can move all three axis but when I press GoTo Zero only the x and y return. I'm an experienced CNC hobbiest, and I recently upgraded from my Mach3 DIY machine to a new Legacy CNC with Delta controller and ATC. I'm all ready to have some fun! But I'm having an issue with setting z-zero on my machine.

Most belt driven machines that lose steps are one of several reasons. 1. Z belt tension. Belt must be tight. If your Z stepper motor set screws are not can cause inconsistent depths. 2. V wheels not adjusted properly. V wheels need to be snug but not crushed. 3. Retract height is too high. If retract is set too high z hits stop and looses steps. 4. 4. Z-axis stepper driver DM542 has been replaced. 5. All mechanical things on the Z axis are clean, tight and lubed. 6. Homing limits checked. 7. I slowed down my Z-axis in motor tuning. 8. I deleted Mach3 and reloaded the software and licence. If anyone can help me out, it would be appreciated. The American stuck in Germany, Jeffrey Similar .

If Mach3 thinks the motor can accelerate faster than the driver is set up to handle, then Mach3 might assume the Z axis has got up to speed before it has. But this is not your problem: your problem is at the deceleration end. Even so, if Mach3 is expecting more performance out of the driver than it can give, you may still experience problems. Need some help if you please. I am attempting to run my first project on Mach 3 and when my router begins to run it slams into my table. (Good thing I have a spoil board) I have narrowed the issue down to the Z axis being programmed in reverse but .When the z axis is going down, the laser turns on. When the z axis is going up, it turns off. The z axis directions is only a signal that is either 5v or 0v. That determines the direction. In vectric, you will need to set your machining operations with a very very small depth so the time it takes to get to its final depth is a very short time.

I am running the Mach3 CNC software on this machine. I am also trying to figure out Fusion 360 for designing simple parts and then trying to machine them on the milling machine. My first project is a simple part with two slots milled all the way through some 1/8" aluminum piece of scrap material. I followed the set by set procedures to setup and calibrate Mach3 and my cnc machine. I also disabled the estop. Now when I try to move the x, y, or z axis my cnc machine will not move. when I plug in my parallel port and usb cable from my cnc box to my computer I hear a knock sound from all 3 motors telling me that the motors are starting up. Hi, i have the Syil X5+ CNC machine, using MasterCAM X5 for solidworks and Mach 3. after getting the tool paths to mach3, the Z and X axis are moving in the opposite direction than what they should be moving.

The one thing you can be certain of it that it is not a fault within the Mach3 software. Check that you have the correct pin# and Port# set for your Z axis Direction signal (Config / Ports & Pins / Motor Outputs). Check that you do not have a conflict (duplication) of Pin numbers being used within the Mach3 settings. When i put a indicator on my 3 axis to check them against the dro in mach3, they are all pretty solid except the z. It is way off. The dro has to move hi; Im in the process of setting up my little CNC late, and I would like to use it the same way then the slant bed CNC lathes that I use at work, (Hardinge and mori-seiki, ) the problem is that mach3 wants to show and do the toolpaths in the conventional lathe way, IE: with the tool in the operator side, can anyone please suggest ways of modifying mach 3 so it will .

Newbie here. Just set up the Oneinfinity and for the life of me I cannot get the z axis to zero. It will home, but it will not zero. I’ve tried moving the z mount up and down. I’ve tried pushing the bit in further and pulling it out, as suggested on FB. Nothing is working. It still says it’s over, and I’m getting a message that “the z axis position is 31.21 mm is greater than maximum . When I updated to 1.3 on the controller I had issues with Z0 not staying set to the correct place. this is the check list I went through to confirm it was the 1.3 update. . for Bore Hole. The Bore Hole is 3.9 , the Workstock is 12mm, yet the Drill Bit almost triples the Depth of Cut on the Z axis. Z Axis Drills . Here’s how to perform a .

Without homing, the machine doesn't know where the hard limits are. It could run a rapid move and not be able to stop in time before hitting the end of an axis. Not a fun thing to do. And, yes, if you switch tooling you'll have to re-zero your touchoff for the Z axis. I drilled the hole first and then attempted to cut the profile. For some reason when retracting the z-axis the machine would skip some of the total movement and start working its way over to the next position. The depth of the z-axis at this point would be less than the required depth for the next cut, so it wasn’t even taking a complete . @long.hw . Have you set your Axis swiches to be used as "Home" positions and after the machine has Homed the switches revert to being limit switches, Mach3 is very good in that it only requires a single switch at each end of the Axes 🙂. Moving to the Z0 Home position with a G53 or G28 as @hyperbolicindustries has already mentioned, is the correct way to have . the machine is a 6040 chinese cnc . Go into Mach 3 motor tuning and enter 400 in the steps per unit for each axis (X,Y,Z). This will equal 400 steps to travel 1mm. . Next use Mach 3 calibration function and follow the instruction on the popup window. enter a distance value and then measure the travel with a digital caliper. .

Z axis not cutting to required depth

I'm using cut2D cam software as well as Mach3, if I draw a very simple circle in cut2D and set up the tool paths which I believe are correct and transfer it to Mach3 to cut everything seems to go fine except the Z axis jogs down to far back up and down again to the correct position. Before I start I position the x,y and z axis and zero them out. As far as I know is should be possible to change the setup in CAM-software to output g-code with inverted z-axis. But this is not the route I would like to go if I can avoid this. Is it possible to change this direction indication for the Z-axis? Similar Threads: Need Help!-Inverted X-Axis; Mach3 losing machine coordinates after reseting; Need . We just got custom made 5 axis CNC machine.
